FDP in December 2018

FDP Concludes:

The Valedictory Function of the Faculty DevelopmentProgramme (FDP) in Entrepreneurship was held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 01.00 p.m. The Two Week FDP in Entrepreneurship was conducted during the period November 12-24, 2018 and 53 college and university teachers from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana States participated in the programme. The training was conducted by Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) at their Mattuthavani campus.

Dr. S. Rajamohan, Chairman – CII, Madurai Region and also Managing Director of Enviro Care India Private Limited, Madurai was the Chief Guest. He observed that 3 factors were critical for the success of any entrepreneur, i.e.., Passion, Hunger for the entrepreneurship venture and Discipline for self (PHD). He acknowledged that these 3 factors were responsible for making him a successful entrepreneur.

Mr. J. KoteswaraRao, Chief Administrative Officer ,nimsme attended as the Guest of Honor. He congratulated the participants of the FDP in Entrepreneurship and requested them to promote Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) among the students since the scheme offered 25% to 35% subsidy for a project ranging from Rs.10 lakhs to Rs.25 lakhs depending upon the category of entrepreneur and the location of the project.

Mr. Rao highlighted “Let there be a reality to the deliberations. Implement them. Take it to the grass root level and motivate them to set up Micro Enterprises at their respective local areas. Stressing the importance of entrepreneurship, he said students coming up with business ideas and models should be encouraged.

Dr. R. Jayaraman, Member Secretary, CED (Tamil Nadu), Madurai delivered the presidential address. He said that any entrepreneurship programme comprised of six components, i.e., Behavioural Components, Business Opportunity Guidance, Project Report Preparation, Management of MSME units, Environment Scanning, Taxation and Legal Issues. The teachers trained through FDP in Entrepreneurship are expected to guide and counsel the students for successful business ventures. CED had earlier trained more than 1000 teachers through the FDPs in Entrepreneurship.

Mr. K. Magesh Kumar, Consultant – MSME and Corporate Sector of CED (Tamil Nadu) welcomed the delegates. Four college professors gave very good feed-back about the two week programme. The participants were distributed the training certificates by the Chief guest and Guest of Honor along with Dr. R. Jayaraman, Member Secretary, CED (Tamil Nadu. Mr. V. Mohanram, Nodal Officer – DST NIMAT Project proposed a vote of thanks.

FDP in November 2018

Valediction of FDPs:

ni-msme had concluded three Faculty Development Programmes on Entrepreneurship Development, at different locations,during October2018.All the programmes were sponsored by the DST, Govt. of India, and were of two weeks duration.

In Vijayawada:

The valedictory of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Entrepreneurship Development in Vijayawada was held on 6th October at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering & Technology, Vijayawada. Dr. Podili Venkateswara Rao (Professor, ALIET); Mr. Janardhana Rao (HoD, ALIET); Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao (FM, ni-msme), Programme Director attended the valedictory event. In all, 21 faculty of science and technology got trained in the programme.

In Visakhapatnam:

The valedictory of the FDP on Entrepreneurship Development in Visakhapatnam was organised at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM, Vizag)on 24th October. Dr. R. Vijaya, Director, IIAM and Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, Programme Director attended the valedictory session. A total of 20 faculty of science and technology were trained in the FDP.

At ni-msme:

The SEE of ni-msme conducted a Faculty Development Program on Entrepreneurship Development at the Institute campus during 1-13 October, for the faculty of engineering and PG colleges. The main aim of the programme was to build up the strength of the faculty in entrepreneurship development, so that they can, in turn, inspire the students to become entrepreneurs. Mr. G. Sudarshan of ni-msme, Programme Director addressed sessions on How to set up an enterprise, Financial schemes and institutional support for setting up ED Cell in colleges. Dr. E. Vijaya explained about GST and GST registration process, while Dr. Dibyendu Choudhary conducted a session on Market survey, Mrs. Swapna on IPR, Dr. Sharma on Agri business, and Dr. Sreenivasa Rao conducted an Entrepreneurship Motivation Lab.

During the valedictory, the participants stated that the training was instructive, and thanked ni-msme and the Director for giving them the opportunity to attend the programme.

Addressing the out-going batch, the Director pointed out that Entrepreneurship is the need of the hour, and the faculty should try and motivate students to choose entrepreneurial careers. He thanked the managing authorities of the colleges for allowing their faculty to attend the training.

FDP in October 2018

Faculty Development Training in ED

ni-msme had conducted two programmes of faculty development training in entrepreneurship development during September 2018.

At Amaravati:

The SEE of ni-msme had inaugurated a FDP on entrepreneurship development during 10-22 September 2018 at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering & Technology, Vijayawada. About 20 faculty from various S&T colleges participated in it.

Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Programme Director addressing the inaugural gathering, thanked the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India for sponsoring the training and reposing faith in ni-msme. Dr. P. Venkateswara Rao and Mr. N. Janardhan Rao of ALIET, Vijaywada were present during the innaugural ceremony. As part of the FDP, relevant subjects/topics including EMT, Micro lab, and Behavioural tests GET, FBEI, Market survey, Curriculum development, Training methods, Preparation of business proposals, Marketing management, Organisation development and HR, and Financial practices, legal options, AP Government schemes, MSME schemes, My MSME apps, etc., were focused. ni-msme arranged guest lecturers by experts and visits.

A formal valedictory was held on 22nd September. In his valedictory message Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, CAO I/c. advised the participants to implement and practise the concepts and skills learned during the training for creating entrepreneurial mindset among the students.

At Vijayawada:

The second FDP was commenced on the 24th. This programme also had 20 faculty participating from S & T colleges. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, Programme Director said that such programmes are best suited to fostering skills and knowledge among the faculty to enable them develop self-employment skills among their students. ni-msme arranged lecturers by eminent experts and exposure visits.


The IPFC of ni-msme organised a three-day FDP on Intellectual Property Rights during 5 – 7 September 2018, sponsored by the CVR College of Engineering, Ibrahimpatnam. A total of 14 Associate Professors of different domains participated in the programme. On 5th September, the programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director, ni-msme. The Director summed up the IPR scenario in India and discussed about the importance of IP for academicians. He also highlighted clash over ‘Khadi' between the German company and KVIC. Programme Director Ms. V. Swapna spoke about the programme contents and highlighted the role of IP in innovation and new product development.

On 7th September, during the valedictory session, the participants shared their impressions about the programme. Overall the programme was rated very good.

FDP in July 2018

FDP on Entrepreneurship Development

The SEM of ni-msme had organised one-week facultydevelopment training in Entrepreneurship Development for the faculty members of ChhatrapatiShahu Institute of Business Education and Research (CSIBER), Kolhapur, Maharashtra, during 4- 8 June 2018. Dr. K. Visweswara Reddy, FM-SEM directed the programme.

The main thrust of the programme was on training the faculty members, so that they would be capable of training their students to become prospective entrepreneurs. The training programme was formally inaugurated by the CAO Mrs. C. Rohini. While addressing the faculty, she emphasised the importance of promoting entrepreneurship among the student community. Prof. T.V.G. Sarma of CSIBER was the guest of honour of the occasion. He gave a lucid picture of the activities being taken up by the CSIBER

The programme inputs spanned across the topics related to entrepreneurial motivation training; project feasibility – technical, marketing and financial; business plan preparation; MSME policies and promotion of entrepreneurship, role of banks in entrepreneurship promotion, etc.

Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director interacted with the participants during one of the sessions, in the course of which he gave an overview of the Institute's activities and appreciated the active participation of the faculty members.

The FDP was formally closed with the valedictory address by Mrs. Rohini, while Dr. Visweswara Reddy gathered the views of the participants about the programme design and facilities at ni-msme.

FDP in November 2017

ED FDP for Engineering Colleges

The SEE of ni-msme had organised a faculty development programme in entrepreneurship development for the teaching personnel of engineering colleges in and around Visakhapatnam, during 23 October - 4 November 2017 at St. Joseph Degree College for Women, Visakhapatnam. Mr. G. Sudarshan, FM-SEE coordinated the programme.

Prof. Ummey Shameem of the Department of Zoology, Andhra University, Vishkapatanam, Best Teacher awardee (2016) by the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of AP, was the Chief Guest of the inaugural event. In her address Dr. Shameem stated that the training programme aimed at enriching the knowledge of the participating teachers and

Dr. Shyji, Principal, St. Joseph College; Dr. N.D. Veronica, Correspondent; Former Principal, SJC were present during the inaugural.

As part of the training, the participating faculty were taken on industrial visit to DOZCO (India) Pvt. Ltd. – Equipments& Parts Construction & Mining, Auto Nagar, Visakhapatnam. They interacted with Mr. J.V.R. Rao Vice-President and gained insights into the operational aspects. The valedictory event was held at the Industry, and training completion certificates were distributed by the Vice-President.

FDP in October 2017

FDP Inaugurated:

The SEE of ni-msme had organised a Faculty DevelopmentProgramme in entrepreneurship at the campus. Sponsored by the CVR College of Engineering, the training batch was comprised of 15 faculty members of the college.

Mrs. C. Rohini, Chief Administrative Officer of ni-msme inaugurated the programme on 30th October 2017. In her address, she stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship, and suggested that the participants, on completion of the training, must strive to nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship among their students and spread the entrepreneurial culture.

Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, Faculty Member, SEE was the director of the programme of two weeks duration.

FDP in September 2017

FDP in Warangal

The FDP on entrepreneurship development for the faculties of engineering colleges in Warangal district of Telangana was conducted during 11-23 September 2017. The programmewas inaugurated in the presence of Dr.K.Prakash, Principal of Vaagdevi College of Engineering; and Dr. P. Prasad Rao,Principal of Vaagdevei Engineering College.

In his address of the occasion, Dr. Prakash said that the FDP in entrepreneurship development is the need of the hour. He said, the faculties should gain knowledge about the subject and transfer it to young engineers so that they can be job providers rather than job seekers.

As part of the programme, the faculty trainees were taken on industrial visit to Maithri Rubber Industries - manufacturer and supplier of rubber products, where they interacted with Mr. NarenderChavan, proprietor. The valedictory was attended by Mr. Y. Hrishikesh, General Manager, DIC; and the principals of both the colleges of engineering had addressed the graduating trainees. The General Manager explained various schemes which are being implemented by the Government for supporting the entrepreneurs.

FDP in August 2017

FDP at Anantapur

The faculty development programme in entrepreneurship development at Anantapur commenced on 21st August and will go on up to 2nd September 2017. The participants are from the faculties of engineering colleges in Anantapur district.The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chairperson Mrs. Jonnalagadda Padmavathy; Principal Mr. Subba Reddy; CAO Mr. M. Ranjit Reddy; and CEO Mr. K. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and some young entrepreneurs.

Delivering the commencement address, the Chairperson thanked ni-msme and the Director General for arranging the training at Anantapur, which is the first of its kind there. She shared her personal experience and the hurdles faced in setting up the engineering college. The Programme will conclude on 2nd September.

FDP at Kakinada

Another faculty development programme in entrepreneurship development was organised at Kakinada during 7th - 19th August 2017. The programme was directed at the faculties of engineering colleges in Kakinada. Chairman Dr. Paruchuri Krishna Rao, and Vice-President Mr. M. Satish addressed the participants during the inaugural session. The Chairman urged the engineering colleges to promote entrepreneurship as it is the need of the hour. The engineering faculty should have thorough knowledge on entrepreneurship, and this programme aims at helping the participants to gain the requisite knowledge and transform to the engineering students into entrepreneursip enthusiasts.

The valedictory event was attended by the General Manager, DIC, Kakinada Mr. A.V. Patel. In his address on the occasion he said that Kakinada is going to become a smart city, so the DIC will play a significant role in promoting enterprise start-ups. Further he said he is committed to developing micro and small enterprises in Kakinada, and this programme will help the faculty to transform the students into entrepreneurial mind set.

The participants voiced that they were not aware of the government schemes before attending this programme. The training was instructive and enlightening, they said, and thanked ni-msme and the DST.

Valediction of FDP

The SEE of ni-msme had organised a two-week Faculty Development Programme in Entrepreneurship Development during 22 May - 2 June 2017 at ni-msme campus. The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. About 27 participants from S&T colleges, entrepreneurship promoting institutions and business schools in Hyderabad had participated in the programme.

The programme was concluded through a formal valediction on 3 June 2017 Mr. M. Chandrasekhar Reddy, Director General, ni-msme, addressing the batch, advised the participants to practise the knowledge and skills learned during the training back in their work situations. Later, he distributed the completion certificates to the participants. Faculty Members Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao and Mr. Shreekant Sharma also attended the valedictory event.

Faculty Development Programmes in EDP

Ni-msme had initiated two batches of faculty development programmes in entrepreneurship development, one programme in women entrepreneurship development, and one in entrepreneurship development during July 2017, sponsored by the Dept. of Science and Technology. All the programmes were directed by Mr. G. Sudarshan, and coordinated by Mr. N. Srinivasa Rao. The aim of the programme was to build the capacity of the faculty of engineering and science colleges so that they would be able to motivate the students to take on entrepreneurial career, and guide and mentor them to manage it with self-confidence.

One of the FDPs, a two-week intervention, was conducted at the Institute campus in Hyderabad, during 3-15 July 2017. As part of the programme, visits were arranged for the trainees to the Rural Technology Park at NIRD, Hyderabad; LBI at ni-msme; and Indian Institute of Millet Research, Hyderabad. The participants were exposed to documentaries and demos, and enriched through their interaction with senior level officials like Dr. Vilas A. Tonapi, Director, IIMR. The training, which concluded with the distribution of programme completion certificates, was appreciated as elucidative.
