EDP in September 2018

EDP at Amravati:

ni-msme is conducting a 4-week EDP at the St. Mary's Group of Institutions at Guntur, during 27 Aug – 22 Sept 2018, sponsored by the DST. This is a general EDP for science and technology graduates.

The aim of the programme is to build the capacity of the graduates of engineering and science colleges so that they would be able to motivate the student fraternity to take on entrepreneurial career, and guide and mentor them to manage it with self-confidence.

The objective of the programme i s promote entrepreneurship among science and technology graduates. During the inauguration Mr. J. KoteswaraRao, Programme Coordinator outlined the input coverage and explained the methods of training like Micro Lab, Thematic Appreciation Test, Ring Toss, Achievement Planning and Tower Building, ZED scheme of DC-MSME and Motivation. He encouraged the participants to benefit from the schemes and use ni-msme services to get a firm footing in enterprise career.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. M. Himabindu, in-charge, Placement Cell, St. Mary's Group of Institutions at Guntur said that this kind of programmes are best suited to fostering self-employment skills as they are practically oriented.

A total of 30 candidates participated in the programme. In addition, industry experience will be provided to the participants to make them conversant with food processing industry. Self-employment programmes, Identification of projects, Preparation of low investment projects, Promotion of projects in rural areas, Project feasibility, Project appraisal, Entrepreneurial motivation and GST are among the themes covered.

Food processing enterprises link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers so as to ensure maximised value addition, minimised wastage, increase in farmers income and creation of employment opportunities particularly in rural sector. Interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, CAs, Government officials, along with project work are intended to give the prospective entrepreneurs enough confidence to start their own business in the days to come.

Dr. B. Penchalaiah, Professor and Principal shared successful case stories with which he was associated. He urged the participants to apply the knowledge acquired here in their real time situations. He made a presentation on how to prepare bankable profiles for low and medium investment projects, feasibility report and business plan.

Mrs. M. Saraswathi, Asst. Professor, Department of Business Administration spoke about schemes such as Stand-Up India, PMEGP, Mudra, CGTMSE and about UdyogAadhaar.

Mr. Y. Ajay Kumar, Asst. Director, District Industries Centre, Autonagar, Guntur interacted with participants. He enumerated the initiatives of the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to encourage start-ups,explained about self-certification system, expatiated on the concepts of Green, Yellow and Red enterprises and the process of their approval from the department. Further, he explained the special schemes exclusively for SC/ST entrepreneurs and the benefits emanating from them.

Mr. Lakshmi kanthaiah, Proprietor, Vijetha Industries, Hyderabad, manufacturer and supplier of bore-well equipment, shared his entrepreneurial experience with the participants, and explained the Dos and Don'ts to the first generation entrepreneurs.

Starting and running own business, while being an exciting and rewarding experience, involves daunting and hard work, especially when going alone. The business start-up workshops provide training to help start and grow the business.

Mr. M. BhagyaRaju, Asst. Professor, Department of Business Administration,; and Mr. A. Parameshu, HoD, Department of Business Administration also interacted with EDP Programme participants as per their programme schedule. The programme was appreciated as useful and enriching.

Valediction of EDPs:

A on-site programme of 4-week duration was conductedat Guntur during September 2018. These programmes was sponsored by the DST, GoI and was directed by Mr. J. KoteswaraRao, AFM, SED.

The ultimate objective of the EDP was to kindle the spirit of entrepreneurship among the science and technology graduates. The batches consisted of 29 participants science and technology graduates attended the programme respectively.

A formal valediction was held at St. Mary's group of institutions premises on 22nd September. Dr. B. Penchalaiah, Director of the St. Mary’s Group of Institutions and Mr. B.V.R.S. Sai, Principal of the St. Mary’s Engineering College, Chebrolu, Guntur also participated in the event.

Mr. J. KoteswaraRao, AFM-SED who was the Chief Guest of the valediction, narrated success stories of his experience, and made a presentation on how to prepare bankable profiles for low and medium investment projects, feasibility report and business plan.

The Director of the campus elucidated the college contributions and activities for the development of entrepreneurs, and advised the participants to complete their business plan report with the help of their college faculty and of ni-msme, so as to ensure its bankability.

The Programme Director presented a report on the programme. The participants all are rated the programme well and stated that it was well organised.

The event ended with distribution of prigramme participation certificates to the trainees by the college principal and Director of the college, followed by vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. M.HimaBindu, Placement cell of the college at St.Mary's group of institutions, Guntur.

Trainers Training in ED:

The SEE of ni-msme has conducted a one-week national programme in Training of Trainers on Entrepreneurship Development from 24 - 28 September 2018, directed by Mr. G. Sudarshan.The training aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of entrepreneurship development programmes through building the capabilities of trainers. Specifically this programme aimed at enabling the participants to understand and appreciate the total spectrum of entrepreneurship development process; to develop skills in organising entrepreneurial motivation training (EMT), designing curriculum based on training needs, choose and use training/extension methods for conducting EDPs, develop counselling skills required to guide and escort the potential trained entrepreneurs.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director, ni-msme. In the inaugural address he said that training the potential entrepreneurs is crucial to promoting entrepreneurship. While the need for training is ever increasing, the paucity of effective motivators in entrepreneurship development is widely evident in many of the developing countries. Achieving the goal of empowering and expanding the role of motivators is essential to identifying, counselling, training, networking and escorting the entrepreneurs.

The participants were from different streams. They stated that the programme has created a new avenue for them, so that they can now be trainers of entrepreneurship. However, they suggested that some more topics be added.

EDP Update:

A month-long EDP was inaugurated at ni-msme,sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, GoI, on 10th September 2018. Directed by Dr. E. Vijaya, FM, SEM and SEIC-i/c, the programme will continue until 6th October 2018. A total of 25 participants comprised of science and technology graduates and start-up enthusiasts and entrepreneurs are attending the EDP.Inaugurating the programme, Dr. SanjeevChaturvedi, Director, ni-msme spoke about the Institute's contribution towards the development of entrepreneurs and advised the participants to complete their business plan with the help of ni-msme faculty, during the traing period so as to ensure the acceptance of their proposal by the banks for financing.

The Programme Director outlined the content of the course and the programme design. She stated that the participants will be taken on a study tour for first-hand exposure to operational aspects of enterprises.

EDP for Science Graduates:

ni-msme had organised an EDP for science graduates at the Institute campus, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, during 13 August - 8 September 2018. A total of 25 candidates had participated in the programme directed by Mr. Vivek Kumar, AFM, SED.

The inputs included statutory sessions on acts, policies and procedures. Focus was given to initial parameters of setting up the industry, necessary ground work and preliminary activities. Lecture sessions on cluster development, project identification, project profile, project report preparation and appraisal from the bankers’ point of view formed an important part of theoretical inputs. Sessions were also organised on personal effectiveness, dynamics of entrepreneurship development, EMT, positive attitude, stress management, etc.

Field visits were arranged to facilitate practical exposure to first-hand operations of medium and small industries. During the programme they had also spent some time at the Rural Technological Park of NIRD, which gave them the opportunity to witness at close quarters how innovation in rural technology happens.

EDP at Tirupati:

ni-msme is conducting an Entrepreneurship Development Programme at Sri Vidyanekaten Institute of Management, Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), which was inaugurated on 20th August 2018. Directed by Mr. G. Sudarshan, FM, SED of ni-msme, the batch has 25 trainees with science and engineering background.

Prof. B. Mohan, Director, Sri Vidyanekaten Institute of Management was the Chief Guest of the inaugural event. Delivering the inaugural address, he gave emphasis to the needs of entrepreneurs. In the light of India emerging as the youngest country in the world, the country should focus on converting job seekers to job makers. He said that this is an advantage for science and technology graduates to start their own business. He thanked Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director of ni-msme for for conducting the EDP in their campus. Dr. J. Murthy, Associate Professor, Sri Vidyanekaten Institute of Management, speaking on the occasion, said that entrepreneurship is the need of the hour, and the participants should opt for entrepreneurial career at the end of the training.

The Programme Director stated that the programme will be more practically oriented, which will buffer the theoretical inputs with application insights. The inaugural ceremony was followed by instructional sessions.

EDP in May 2018

ToT-ED for Mizo:

The SEE of ni-msme had organised a one week campus programme of Training of Trainers in Entrepreneurship Development (ToT-ED) during 16-20 April 2018. This is first national EDP in 2018-19, sponsored by the Planning and Programme Implementation Department (R&D Branch), Government of Mizoram. The programme was directed and coordinated by Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, FM, SEE.

The batch was comprised of associate professors and state civil service commission personnel. As part of training, exposure visit was arranged to T-Hub on 19th April, where the participants had interacted with several budding entrepreneurs.

Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director, ni-msme inaugurated the programme on 16th April. On the 20th, he handed over training completion certificates to the participants.

EDP in March-April 2018

Valediction of TEDP

The 6-week DST sponsored TEDP in IT and ComputerHardware came to end on 9th March 2018. A formal valedictory function was organised on the day to signify the occasion.

Dr. SanjeevChaturvedi, Director, ni-msme, addressing the outgoing trainees, advised them to be strong in their determination and work hard, and approach ni-msme to negotiate the teething troubles when they set up their own enterprise.

At the campus:

Earlier, Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Programme Director welcomed the house and congratulated the participants on successful completion of training and urged them to start own enterprises with the same enthusiasm they have shown throughout the programme. Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, Chief Programme Coordinator of the DST Project suggested that the participants share their success stories with ni-msme, which the Institute will publish.

The participants expressed satisfaction with the training and were intent on starting own units. The interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, CAs, government officials, along with exposure visits to Rural Technology Park and T-Hub were insightful; the discussions with the senior executives there were illuminating and helpful.

The function concluded with distribution of training completion certificates to the participants.

Valediction at Visakhapatnam:

The 4-week WEDP, conducted by ni-msme during29th February - 17th March 2018 at the Integral Ins titute of Advance Management (IIAM), Visakhapatnam, was formally concluded on 17th March at the programme venue. The programme was sponsored by the DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Dr. (Mrs.) VijayaRudraraju, Director (IIAM) and Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, Programme Director and Faculty Member, ni-msme addressed the outgoing trainees, and distributed training completion certificates. In all, 25 prospective woman entrepreneurs with science and technology background got trained in the batch. The trainee-entrepreneurs thanked the DST for sponsoring the programme.

EDPs for Women

The Institute has executed a number of activities concerning women entrepreneurship during the month of February 2018, at different locations.

A Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP) was inaugurated at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM), Visakhapatnam by Mr. SambasivaRao, Chairperson, AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) on 19th February 2018. At the campus:

The SEE of ni-msme is conducting a Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP) at the Institute campus from 5th February 2018 to 3rd March 2018. Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director, ni-msme inaugurated the programme, directed by Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, FM, on 5th February. Dr. Shreekant Sharma, AFM also participated in the inaugural programme, being attended by 31 prospective entrepreneurs in all.

The valedictory of the EDP (conducted during 22 January - 17 February 2018) was held at the IIAM, on the 16th. Prof. Dr. Vijaya Rudraraju, Director, IIAM and Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao of ni-msme, Programme Director distributed the training completion certificates to the 25 prospective entrepreneur - trainees. On the same day, the entrepreneurs visited the Vishaka Roofs Industry at Autonager, Vishakapatnam as part of their industrial tour.

TEDP in Computer Hardware

A month-long technology entrepreneurship development programme in IT and computer hardware was inaugurated at the Institute campus on 29th January 2018. The initiative received an overwhelming response from the science and technology graduates. About 30 prospective entrepreneurs joined for training in the programme.

Inputs were given in project report preparation, financial planning, legal and tax compliances, etc., during February.

Mr. K. Chandra Sekhar Babu, Assistant Director, Commissionerate of Industries, Hyderabad addressed sessions on TS iPass and T Idea. Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Programme Director elucidated about various business opportunities related to IT applications in the agricultural sector. An in-plant study visit was arranged to Rural Technology Park of National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD ≺), Hyderabad on 28th February. Modules on IT and computer hardware will be provided in the forthcoming weeks.

EDP in January 2018

EDP Inaugurated at Visakhapatnam:

The SEE of ni-msme initiated an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) of 4-week duration (22 January - 17 February 2018) at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM), Visakhapatnam. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Vijaya Rudraraju, Director of IIAM on 22nd January 2018.

About the TEDPs

A 6-week TEDP on IT and Computer Hardwarewas inaugurated at the Institute campus on 29th January 2018. The programme will continue up to 9th March 2018. About 30 participants with science and technology background are getting trained in this programme.

The sessions are designed with practical orientation, and include interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, IT experts, CAs and government officials. Exposure visits are also on the schedule, intended to provide the prospective entrepreneurs with insights into operational aspects which would come handy when they start IT businesses post-training. Additional two weeks is extended to facilitate industry specific training to give fillip to the starting up initiative of the participants.

The earlier batch of 6-week TEDP in bio-medical, consisting of 30 trainees, was concluded through a formal valedictory on 20th January 2018. This batch was facilitated exposure visit to a pharmaceutical industry and a research centre on meat. Mrs. R. Nirmala, Chief Manager, Andhra Bank, and Mr. B. Satyanarayana, Asst. Director, PMEGP Linkages, KVIC Telangana State Office distributed the training completion certificates and apprised the outgoing trainees of loan procedure and PMEGP modalities. Dr. Shreekant Sharma, programme director urged the participants to start their own enterprises, and assured them of hand-holding support during the start-up phase.

EDP in December 2017

Technology Entrepreneurship Development Programmes:

The School of Entrepreneurship and Extension had organised various Technology Entrepreneurship Development Programmes during December 2017, focusing on sunrise areas like bio medical and leather products. One of them was an on-site intervention being conducted in Vijayawada, and another was at ni-msme campus. These TEDPs are annexed with additional two weeks of industry training, to make the trainees confident of starting their own enterprise.

Inauguration of Bio Medical TEDP at Campus:

At the Institute campus in Hyderabad, the TEDP in biomedical was inaugurated on 11th December 2017. This 6- week TEDP will continue upto 20th January 2018. About 27 participants with science and technology background are getting trained in this programme. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Programme Director for TEDP said that such programmes are best suited to fostering self employment skills as they are more practical in nature.

The programme includes interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, CAs and Government officials, along with exposure visits intended to build up self assurance among the prospective entrepreneurs to start bio medical units in the days to come.

Valedictory of Leather Products TEDPs

The valedictory of 6-week TEDPs in Leather Products was organised at ni-msme campus on 2nd December 2017. In this programme 30 participants had got trained. Exposure visits were arranged to NIRD and CITD in order to provide the trainees with practical insights into operational aspects.

Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Director, ni-msme congratulated all the participants on their successful completion of training and wished they would start their own enterprises with the same enthusiasm that they had shown throughout the programme.

The valedictory of the TEDP in leather products at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET), Vijayawada was held on 9th December 2017. Mr. A. Sudhakar, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Vijayawada was the chief guest of the event. He discussed about various schemes, subsidies and grants available and clarified the doubts expressed by the participants. The certificates were distributed by the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Dr. A. Francis Xavier S.J., Dr. P. Venkateswara Rao and Mr. N. Janardhan Rao of ALIET, Vijayawada were present during the valedictory ceremony.

EDp in November 2017

EDP on Location:

The SEE of ni-msme had organized an entrepreneurship development programme in Tirupati during 16 October-11 November 2017, at the Ramaraja Institute of Technology & Science. Mr. G. Sudarshan, FM-SEE coordinated the programme.

Mr. P. Pratal, Area Manager, Finolex Cables Ltd. was the chief guest of the inaugural event, presided over by Dr. E. Krishna Karthik, Director of the Institute. Addressing the batch of trainees on the occasion, the Director emphasised the need for entrepreneurs, as India is emerging as the youngest country in the world, it is necessary that our technically educated youth should focus on making themselves Job Providers instead of becoming Job Seekers. The training would strengthen their entrepreneurial abilities.

Programmes in Women Entrepreneurship: WEDP at Waragngal

The SEE of ni-msme had conducted a women entrepreneurship development programme (WEDP) at the Department of Commerce & Business Management, Kakatiya University, Warangal, inaugurated by Prof. R. Sayanna, Vice-Chancellor of the university on 6th November 2017. Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, faculty member, SEE of ni-msme was the programme director.

Prof. V.V. Subrahmanya Sharma of the Dept. of Commerce & Business Management (KU) and Dr. Radhika Rani of the Dept. of Library Science also attended the inaugural.

EDP in October 2017

Valediction of TEDPs:

Three TEDPs in three different trades were concludedthrough formal valedictory events at different locations, during October 2017. Sponsored by the DST, they were initiated in September, and were of six weeks duration. Dr. Shreekant Sharma, AFM, SEE was programme director of all the three ESDPs.

One of them, in food processing, conducted at the Institute campus, concluded on the 14th. The trainees expressed satisfaction with input coverage, and were enthusiastic about starting their own enterprise.

The TEDP in herbal and medicinal plants processing, organised in Visakhapatnam, concluded on the 21st. The programme director distributed training completion certificates to the trainees. The IT based TEDP in computer hardware at Vijayawada also concluded on the same day. The participants stated that interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, CAs and government officials, combined with exposure visits had built enough confidence in them to start their own businesses. Formal valediction was organised in Vijayawada in September for an earlier TEDP in food processing. General Manager of the DIC was the chief guest, who later distributed certificates to the trainees, the programme director joining him. Senior functionaries of ALIET were present during the event.

The programme director, speaking separately at the closing events, pointed out that the TEDPs were designed with the aim of fostering self-employment abilities among the trainees,and the modules were constructed to meet this end.

TEDPs on Leather and Products:

The SEE of ni-msme had organised two Technology Entrepreneurship Development Programmes during October 2017, sponsored by the Dept. of Science and Technology, GoI. Both of them are of six weeks duration, and are directed by Dr. Shreekant Sharma, AFM, SEE. About 30 participants per batch, with science and technology background, are getting trained in these programmes. One of them was a campus initiative that took off on the 23rd. This programme will continue up to 2nd December. The venue for the other programme was the Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET), Vijaywada. Inaugurated on the 30th, the training will go on up to 9th December.

ED Training for Women:

The SEE of ni-msme was involved with two WomenEntrepreneurship Development Programmes (WEDPs) during the month of October 2017. One programme was completed at Tirupati, while the other was inaugurated at the campus.

At the campus:

Inaugurated on the 23rd, the WEDP inaugurated at the campus consisted of 29 prospective young entrepreneurs. Mrs. C. Rohini, CAO of ni-msme, inaugurating the programme, urged the participants to choose entrepreneurial careers and emerge as successful employment generators.

The programme of six weeks duration, sponsored by DST, was directed by Dr. Nune Srinivasa Rao, FM, SEE.

At Tirupati:

The WEDP conducted at Sri PadmavatiMahilaVisvavidyalayam (SPMVV), Tirupati during 11 September - 7 October 2017, was successfully completed. A formal valedictory function was organised on 6th October to mark the conclusion. The batch of outgoing trainees was comprised of 27 young women with science and technology background.

EDP in September 2017

Valediction of EDP and WEDP

The SEE of ni-msme had organised the valedictory function of the four-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and Women Entrepreneur ship Development Programme (WEDP) at the campus on 22nd September 2017. There were 27 participants in the EDP and 28 participants in the WEDP, all of them potential entrepreneurs from science and technology streams.

Mr. M. Chandrasekhar Reddy , Director General, ni-msme distributed the programme completion certificates at the end of the valedictory event. Dr. NuneSrinivasaRao, Programme Director, and Dr. Shreekant Sharma, AFM, ni-msme had participated in the event. These programmes were sponsored by the DST.

EDP in Tirupati

A formal valedictory function was organised on the 22nd September, for the batches conducted during 23rd August to 22nd September. M. Krishna Kumari, Principal attended the function.

Mr. M. Chandrasekhar Reddy, Director General of ni-msme visited the PadmavathiMahila University, Tirupati while the programme was underway, and addressed the EDP and WEDP participants along with other science graduates. He emphasised the need for entrepreneurs. As India is emerging as the youngest country in the world, we should transform job seekers into job providers, and he also said that this programme will help the participants to think of entrepreneurship as career option.

The participants expressed their views, stated that they had attended a good programme, and now they are confident that they will be able to start an enterprise. They thanked the Director General, ni-msme; and the DST for conducting the programme in Tirupati.

Initiatives in Entrepreneurship Development

The SEE of ni-msme has started several batches of Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP) and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) during August 2017 at different locations. Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, Faculty Member, SEE is the director of all the programmes sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

At Hyderabad

At the Institute campus in Hyderabad, the programmes commenced on 28th August 2017. They are of four weeks duration and will continue up to 23rd September. About 54 participants with science and technology background are getting trained in the programmes.

At Vijayawada

The SEE of ni-msme successfully completed one batch each of 4-week (from 24 July to 18 August 2017) Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP) at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET), Vijayawada. About 60 prospective entrepreneurs with science and technology background participated in the programme. A formal valedictory was conducted on 18th August and programme completion certificates were distributed by the officials of DIC, SIDBI and ALIET.

At Visakhapatnam

Four-week (from 21st August 16th September 2017) EDP and WEDP batches were started at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM), Visakhapatnam. There are 60 science and technology graduates with entrepreneurial inclinations are participating in the programme. The programme was inaugurated on 21st August, with the officials of IIAM, SIDBI and the prorgramme director present.

EDP at Tirupati

The intervention at Tirupati was commenced on 28th August and will continue up to 23rd September 2017. The Correspondent and Principal of Gayatri Degree College present during the inaugural session. While addressing the participants, the Correspondent emphasised the need for new entrepreneurs to reduce joblessness among the graduates coming out year after year, because enterprise creation by some will open job opportunities to many others. The Principal advised the participants to get maximum benefit from the wonderful programme. The Principal thanked ni-msme and the Director General for organising the programme in Tirupathi. The programme is underway as of now.

EDP at Hyderabad

The EDP at Hyderabad was organised during 24th July - 19th August 2017. The participants were science and technology graduates. The valedictory of the programme was attended by the faculty members of ni-msme. The participants appreciated the knowledge imparted to them regarding various government schemes like the MUDRA, PMEGP and CGTMSE, on how to register their businesses in Udyog Aadhaar, and how to prepare the detailed project report. The visit to NIRD was an eye-opener into practical aspects of business enterprise. The participants thanked the ni-msme and the Director General for conducting a useful programme.

Women Entrepreneurship Development Training

ni-msme had conducted a Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme at the campus, sponsored by the State Bank of India, SME BU, LHO, Hyderabad. The special programme, directed by Mr. Ankit Bhatnagar, focused on preparing a bankable project and providing insights into the process of procuring SME loan. The programme was designed to enable judging the seriousness of the candidate by the panel of experts.

Applications were invited from 100 participants and personal interviews and counselling were conducted on 26th July 2017, basically with the objective of familiarising the delegates with different loan schemes available for MSME promotion. Mr. Saravanan, AGM, SBI SME BU addressed one of the theme sessions. Speakers who addressed the theme sessions highlighted the need for enterprise promotion and explained the different schemes available with SBI and how they benefit the entrepreneurs.

The experts panel included Mr. Saravanan; Mr. K.S.P. Goud, Faculty Member, ni-msme; and others. In all, 25 woman candidates were selected for the programme. The WEDP was conducted with the selected candidates from 31st July to 9th August 2017.

Mr. Dipankar Chaterjee, DGM, SBI and Mr. L. Ganesh, DGM, SBI, the honoured guests, inaugurated the programme on 31st July. Addressing the participants, they expatiated on the schemes the SBI is operating to assist the micro and small entrepreneurs, operating as well as the aspiring ones.

Mr. M. Chandrasekhar Reddy, Director General of ni-msme emphasised the need for such initiatives to provide loan assistance under various SME loan schemes like Stand-Up India and Mudra Loan. DG also thanked the SBI officials for their support.

The trainees completed project preparation during the programme. The programme was also supported by SBI SME Loans, Patny Branch. Over the next three months, the Institute will provide handholding service to the trainees. The programme was concluded on 9th August by Mr. Sarvanan and Mr. Mani Kumar of SBI. In- principle sanction letters will be issued to the trainees by the bank in due course of time.

EDP

Entrepreneurship Development Programmes at Vijaywada

ni-msme had organised three Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) at Andhra Loyala Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vijayawada, sponsored by the DST: one general EDP, one women's EDP (WEDP), and one EDP for science and technology graduates (TEDP). A total of 90 candidates participated in these programmes, 30 in each of the programme. All the programmes were of 4 weeks duration except the TEDP in food processing, in which 2 weeks of additional industry experience will be provided to the participants to make them conversant with food processing industry. The objective of the programmes was to promote entrepreneurship among science and technology graduates.

During the inauguration Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, Programme Coordinator outlined the input coverage and explained themethods of training like Micro Lab, Thematic Appreciation Test, Ring Toss, Achievement Planning and Tower Building, ZED scheme of DC-MSME and Motivation.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Programme Director for TEDP said that such programmes are best suited to fostering self-employment skills as they are more practical in nature. Food processing enterprises link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers so as to ensure maximised value addition, minimised wastage, increase in farmers’ income and creation of employment opportunities particularly in rural sector. Interaction with successful entrepreneurs, bankers, CAs, Government officials, along with project work are intended to give the prospective entrepreneurs enough confidence to start their business in the days to come.

Rev. Fr. Dr. A. Francis Xavier, S.J., Secretary & Director, ALIET, who attended the inauguration, emphasised the need for entrepreneurship. Dr. O. Mahesh, Principal, ALIET; Rev. Fr. M.L. Thomas, S.J., Assistant Director, ALIET; Dr. Venkateswara Rao Podile, Professor, Department of Business Administration, ALIET; and Mr. N. Janardhana Rao, HoD, Department of Business Administration, ALIET also participated in the inauguration. The event was widely covered by the local media.
